Presentation of new analysis: AVOIDing dangerous climate change
Members of the AVOID 2 team will discuss why the 2⁰C objective remains as important and relevant as ever if we’re to avoid dangerous climate change, demonstrate why a global transition to low-carbon energy system needs to outpace the fastest historical transitions, and explain what a delay in achieving global mitigation could mean in terms of the increased pace, costs, and ultimately risks of meeting the 2⁰C goal. They will also present our latest analysis of the significant adverse risks posed to people, the economy and the environment of a high-emissions pathway, and what impacts can be avoided by lowering carbon emissions.
Panel discussion: Where next: post-2030 action
In the second half of our event, the distinguished panel will explore the major drivers and barriers to keeping us on the 2⁰C pathway after 2030. We will discuss the technology drivers, financing options and the policy frameworks that could support the necessary change.
